Airtel Offers new WhatsApp data packs

Mobile instant messaging service, WhatsApp, has partnered with Indian telecom operator Airtel to offer users a customized data plan for WhatsApp use.

The pack is available to both 2G and 3G subscribers and is priced in the range of Rs 36 and Rs 49, depending on the service area. It will offer 200MB monthly data allowance exclusively for Whatsapp use. To activate the plan, users need to SMS the keyword 'Whatsapp' to the number 121.

It's not the first time that WhatsApp has tied-up with Indian telecom operators to offer special plans. The service had previously partnered Reliance Communications and Tata Docomo for offering WhatsApp specific data plans.

WhatsApp claims to have 50million monthly active users in India, which is the largest market for the messaging service provider. About a fortnight ago, WhatsApp had announced that it had half a billion active users, worldwide and has grown fastest in countries like Brazil, India, Mexico, and Russia, with users sharing more than 700 million photos and 100 million videos every single day.

Because I am absolutely terrible about following through with blog awards, I can't in good conscience accept any more. Thank you very much for thinking of me though!
