Samsung pays Apple $1 Billion sending 30 trucks full of 5 cents coins

This morning more than 30 trucks filled with 5-cents coins arrived at Apple's headquarters in California. Initially, the security company that protects the facility said the trucks were in wrong place, but minutes later, Tim Cook (Apple CEO) received a call from Samsung CEO explaining that they will $1 billion dollars for the fine recently ruled against the South Korean company in this way.

The funny part is that the signed document does not specify a single payment method, so Samsung is entitled to send the creators of the iPhone their billion dollars in the way they seem best.

The dirty but genius geek troll play is a new headache to Apple executives as they will  need to put extra time to check whether the amount is up to the mark and then ti find a bank which could deposit the 30 trucks of coins.

Shoes made for charging devices

A tremendous amount of time has been spent developing new ways to produce power. Smaller batteries, solar power, charging stations, thermo-electric power, all of these are examples of what we have done to produce power from alternate ways. But that's not the end.

A guy from Kenya has just come forward with his invention, a shoe which comprised of an incredibly thin chip of crystals that can actually create power while you walk, run or jog. The energy produced can be stored for later use, or charge your devices via a thin cord from your shoe to your pocket.

Anthony Matua, the inventor of this technology tells that the chip responsible for the production of power can be inserted inside the sole of any shoe. And when you walk, you generate pressure and in turn, that pressure generates energy. The device is patented and it looks like it may be set to enter the market at a very modest price point.

Currently, 30 new IFAK's underwent evaluation at Fort Polk, La where there was a platoon of soldiers who carried them through a training rotation.

Soon virus will charge cellphones

Soon in the coming days no one would worry by seeing the discharged battery of their cellphone. As scientists from the University of California have claimed to develop a technique to harness electricity from a  bacteria eating virus to power your mobile phones. The team of scientists at the University of California, Berkeley used the virus, M13 Bacteriophage to replace toxic elements used to charge the cellphone.

All this came to reality because the virus posseses a property known as piezoelectricity, which means it can convert mechanical energy to electrical energy.

Researchers believe the discovery could pave a way for mobile phones that can be charged while one walks and replace the toxic piezoelectric elements already used in mobile phones. Most mobile phone microphones are piezoelectric because they need to convert energy from sound waves into electric output that can be transmitted and then translated back into sound waves at the other end of the line.

Use photos to ask for directions while travelling in foreign countries

Travelling in a country where you don't know the language could make problems when you need to communicate. If language is the problem and id becoming a cause of failure carry some photos or drawings of common things that you might need...like some drawing of a toilet with a question mark if you want to know where is the bathroom.

Carrying around a stack of printed pictures might not be the most appealing option, but that's why we have smartphones and other handy gadgets. Just have some drawings in your photo album and snap some photos of places you'll need to return to at some point. If you can ask "how do I get there?" or "where is it?" and show someone a photo, you'll have a better chance of getting the information you need.

Agnes Maria Forsthofer, a member of an association for left-handed people in Germany, pointed out that "there are essentially no devices for fitted for left-handers.

Even standard devices like a mouse or keyboard have some pitfalls for left-handed users.

According to News 24, Barbara Sattler, who heads an information center for left-handers in Germany, pointed out that the "number pad for example is difficult to use with your left-hand".

Google gets record fine over privacy bypassing cookies

The fine is largest to date to be imposed by the FTC on a single company. According to the settlement agreement, Google does not have to admit any wrongdoing.

The FTC has fined Google for misrepresenting what it was doing, not for the methods it used to bypass Safari's privacy settings. The FTC launched an investigation after a Stanford University researcher reported that Google was bypassing browser privacy settings.

Google was found to be exploiting a Safari browser loophole that enable it to install monitoring-enabling cookies on web surfers machines through adverts on websites.

Privacy groups have welcomed the FTC's action against Google, saying it is vital that any organisation that seeks to override consumer choices about sharing their data is held to account.

When the iPhone 4S was announced it was undoubtedly Siri which stole the show. However, since then Apple's voice-assistant has been hugely criticised due to its inaccuracy and unreliability.

Google has tried to take advantages of the Siri's shortcomings by launching their Voice Search application on the iPhone. Google's Voice Search application is a lot more reliable and has performed much better in tests than Siri, which had led to a number of iPhone 4S owners using the application instead of Siri.

The good news for iPhone users is that Google will be improved their application with the release of anew version of the application.

The new version of Voice Search is linked to Google's "Knowledge Graph" which is a database of more than 500 million people, places and attributes. This information is combined to improve the relevancy of search results to ensure users find exactly what they want.

The latest version og Google's Voice Search, which is already available on Android, will be downloadable for the iPhone and iPad very soon and the app comes with 3G's recommendation.

Even though most riders are on mopeds, India is still a huge market for motorcycles and there's no shortage of buyers for Japanese and European imports. The latest scheduled to arrive is he 2012 650R, Kawasaki's entry to the mid sportsbike segment.

The bike still comes with a 650cc parallel twin-cylinder, four stroke engine rated at 72bhp and 66Nm for the Indian market.

The 650R isn't exactly the most powerful bike, not even in its class, but when it does arrive in India this month, you can accept a new chassis adapt for road users and sharply defined body with integrated turn indicators.

It also comes with a 3-position wind screen, a 20mm wider handlebar, thicker foam for the seats. The only thing that's missing is the ABS, which was introduced for the 2013 model year, but isn't as important in India.

HTC One S: Review

The third phone in HTC's One Series of Android smartphones, the One S, was initially announced with Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 (1.5Ghz dual core) processor, which offers performance similar to the quad core phones like HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S III. However, due to shortage of processors, HTC launched the One S in India with an older Snapdragon S3 (1.7Ghz dual core) processor instead. However, it still gets an aluminum unibody casing, 4.3-inch super amoled display and 8-megapixel camera with simultaneous full HD video recording.

HTC's Sense 4.0 UI is user friendly and one of the best interfaces for Android. Like the other One Series phones, the One S also has a dedicated button for accessing the task manager — this makes it easy to switch between apps or close them. The audio quality across various apps is fantastic, thanks to the integrated Beats Audio technology.

Overall, the HTC One S is a perfect blend of style, build quality, top-notch display and performance. However, it has a few faults — storage is capped at 16GB (there is no microSD slot), battery life is just a day and it's priced too close to HTC's own One X which offers a larger display and quad core processor for just a few thousand more (Rs 36,000).
